Typically served with a choice of steamed rice or tossed with Soba noodles. I went for the ‘Teppanyaki’ it’s a traditional Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to grill meats and pan-fry vegetables. The menu provides explanations of the dishes on offer, which is very helpful if you have no idea what Teppanyaki, Futomaki or Gyoza is? I’m not really up on my Japanese cuisine lingo so it took me a while to order. I decided to go for the ‘Bacon Kushiyaki’ – Japanese style skewer asparagus and enokitake mushroom wrapped with bacon.Īt first I thought the long crunch mushrooms were bean sprouts, it was only when I looked at them carefully I noticed the little mushroom heads. They were crunchy and delicious – I was very happy with my gluten-free option. I’m following my gluten-free diet, so I asked the waitress for some advice when ordering my starter and main course. Japanese style skewer asparagus and enokitake mushroom wrapped with bacon. We were treated to a starter, main course and lots of beers and miso soup for everyone! It was something different, and nice to experience some Japanese culture while you dine. We didn’t have to take off our shoes either. At first glance it looked as though we’d be sitting on the floor (true Japanese style), but beneath the tables are hollowed out, so it’s actually like sitting in a chair but your bum is on a tatami mat. We were seated in the tatami private function room, which was a really nice touch. Last night ten foodies got together in Aoshima Sushi & Grill, Stillorgan for the first Zomato foodie meet-up of 2016, the atmosphere, company and food were fantastic! We are active reviewers, bloggers, instagrammers, tweeters and above all food lovers! I’m a part of the Zomato foodie community here in Ireland, a group of passionate foodies in Dublin.
